Best Practices

Tips from our award-winning design team for creating beautiful, user-friendly dropdowns—quickly and easily.

  • Keep Content Balanced
When adding a title, caption, or accent image to your dropdown, take the height of the section list into account. Longer lists pair well with taller accent images to help balance the space on the left. For shorter lists, consider using a more landscape-oriented image and skipping the title and caption to keep the layout clean and proportional.
  • Accent Image Consistency
Using a consistent style for accent images helps keep your site looking polished and cohesive. If you choose circular accent images, use that shape in all dropdowns. Likewise, if your images feature a playful brush-stroke border, apply the same border style consistently to maintain a unified look.
  • Leverage AI Tools
Want to add a title and caption to each of your dropdowns but not sure what to say—or how to stay within character limits? Tools like ChatGPT or Google Gemini can help. Simply describe what you’re looking for and include the character limit, and you’ll get multiple options to choose from. From there, you can quickly copy and paste the text into Smart Sites and move forward in record time.
