The Board spent a significant portion of Tuesday’s study session reviewing the proposed "Oakwood Mathematics Framework." This new curriculum, slated for adoption for the 2026-27 school year, focuses on deep conceptual understanding and real-world problem-solving, moving away from rote memorization toward mathematical reasoning.

Teachers from the Curriculum Committee presented data from a semester-long pilot program, showing marked improvements in student engagement and critical thinking. Board members asked detailed questions regarding teacher training and the availability of parent resources to support learning at home.

"Our goal is to ensure that every student has the tools to 'think like a mathematician' in an increasingly data-driven world," said board member Fatima Khan. "This curriculum is a significant investment in our students' future, and we are committed to providing the professional development our teachers need to make it a success."
